The UK would have problems without immigrants? One of the most powerful empires in human history is dependant on immigrants all of a sudden? (and what has trade to do with it??)

The UK does not have an empire any more.

I mean after world war II we had a major labour shortage, if it wasn't for immigration our economy would have failed after the war. That is why I think immigration is important in many respects as it provides skilled labour when you need it and it's much better for us than just outsourcing the labour, which would be the other option.

However, I do thinks that letting desperate unskilled immigrants into the UK should be cracked down on. It really depends on what the immigrant can offer.

And at the end of the day would you rather outsource labour to other countries or allow skilled immigrants into your country?
