I personally don't mind the idea of a spin off in the series that is multiplayer only. Basically like Hunters which just uses the Metroid world and abilities in a multiplayer fashion. They don't have to mess with the story or make up any material for the game.
Just my opinion but would love morph ball and other abilities in large multiplayer arenas. I would also love to have online co-op but thats just me :)
