When you guys say "make better games" you need to first think about what makes a game "better". All gamers have different tastes and each regions have some gaming genres that dominate the most. In The west, Action and Sports dominate, while on the East, story driven games with deep character development are more popular.

If we are talking about sales outside of Japan, then you don't need to think that much. So in this case:

make better games = make them less japanese. Cut the anime-crap and ridiculous storylines. Make them less annoying. Quite simple. :O

I wish it was that simple.

what you call anime crap is one of the poitns that is a "safe bet" on the japanese market (part of the appeal). The ridiculous story is a relative matter, what you consider awesome can be considered stupid in Japanese market. To make a more worldwide appealing story is not easy. A similar thing goes to the "less annoying" factor. It's very relative.

Making games "less Japanese" involves a lot of risks and careful planning. The end product can be mediocre for all regions
