The fact is they're still losing too much money per unit sold to drop the price. Perhaps there will be a price drop this year, but I don't know why anyone would expect one this soon. The PS3 has just had a pretty darn good European launch, and given high price and virtually no AAA games it's ability to sell 130k a month in the US isn't bad at all. Their biggest concern right now is Japan. Nintendo is on the verge of completely taking over that market. Sales will pick up for the PS3 as the games come.

I think right now Sony looks at how the 360 is doing and says hey, we'll be able to catch up. The 360 is not doing great, not even in it's best market of the US. It's still getting outsold by the PS2. I feel, as Sony probably does, that the HD gaming war is not really even going to begin this year. The Wii will dominate 2007 both in sales and in the press. It's 2008 and 2009 when the real battle between the PS3 and 360 will come forward.
