Retail stores pay about $40 for a game they sell for $50; they don't make $1 on every new game purchase. I used to work retail and see the price lists. It's the consoles, not the games, that they make next to nothing on.

*sigh* Soriku EBgames IS Gamestop, same managament, same company, Barnes and Noble owns both of them.
