| Carl2291 said: Yeah, im still here... for some reason. Over 1 1/2 hours later. I take it by "core" we are talking about a game that appeals to the main Nintendo fanbase from previous generations? The core fanbase? Well, my favourite Nintendo franchise is and always has been Zelda, so when Ninty released this, they were trying to appeal to me? Yes? One of the "core" Nintendo/Zelda fanbase. Well, IMO it is not a core game because it is not appealing to me at all. I shall tell you why i dont find it appealing. This game is more-or-less Wii Play for the Zapper... Basicly a free game bundled with the Zapper to show off what it can do. The game can be beaten in an hour. Under an hour infact. It has very minimal replay value and a small amount of Multiplayer. It seems to be a half-assed attempt to try cash in on the Zelda/Link name to move some of the Zappers. Just because it centers around the Zelda universe, doesn't make it a core game. Just because it is a shooter, doesn't make it a core game. A core game has to appeal to that franchise's/genre's fans for it to be classed as a core game. This game, in no way shape or form... appeals to me at all. And i love Zelda, and i love shooters. For me, this is 100% NOT a core game. Once again this is IMO. I know how some people here are really defensive with anything negative about Nintendo... Feel free to try change my mind about it, i wont be arrogant and i will listen to what you have to say. Who knows, maybe we just have a different perspective on what a "core game" is. |
Core is a statement of values, not necessarily appeal - and it's still sold more than the majority of the best-selling games on the 360 and the PS3. It is a wildly popular game, if thati s how you define "core" - it appeals to people who like shooter,s or like Zelda, or both. We can't take "core" as being subjective. if we do, then th argument is pointless, because you can't support the idea that I'm wrong for listing it as a core title.
Its scope is comparable ot Starfox 64, and its replayability is similar (it is about earning points and medals andi mproving one's skills). Would you argue that Starfox 64, therefore, is not a core game?
