Wait, wut? when was he ever ahead?
anyways - regarding the article. Do i really need to say why he's wrong on the Wii HD? i think nintendo is quite content with their position - new console to many, and for those with HD counterparts, the Wii still remains the place for some of the best first party titles from this generation, meaning it still ends up being the secondary console of choice paired with an HS console (for me, that would be 360 + wii). Besides - having games made for the wii is, as far as im concerned, a good thing. It means the wii is less likely to get simple ports. Bad for developers but i consider it a good thing for those that own 2 consoles this generation.
madden on the wii - wrong audience. the people who buy madden every year also tend to be the stereotypical "college frat boy" or otherwise sports-obsessed gamer. Sports in HD is a good thing - i dont know why people get a kick of seeing the sweat on their favorate players but it works. Likewise, that means the Wii's lesser graphical prowess hurts such sales - besides, madden commercials tend to emphasize the graphics of the game, meaning no room for the wii in the advertising (i honestly wasnt aware madden was even hitting the wii at the same time that it hit the HD twins, so this was new to me).
lastly - apple as a gaming platform. No - or at the very least, not yet. While his point about price is extremely valid (im sure this also affected the music industry after iTunes near constant $1 per song) and little kids not truly knowing the quality of a good game - for everyone else above age 10 that wants a primarily-gaming platform the iTouch is no proper substitute. It does not (yet) have the gaming support required for me to legitimately accept it as a gaming device (obviously i call bullshit on their "the iphone has 26k games on it" statement). Maybe in a few years when more dedicated and high-quality game support hits it, but until then its "an MP3 player that can play games".
um..stuff
