$50 a year may be a relatively small amount, but over the lifespan of a console, it is not. If you pay for 5 years of service you're effectively adding $250 to the cost of your console purchase. You don't pay all at once at the till, but you pay. And it is soooo not worth it IMO. Very happy with PSN. It's free, and the feature gap, as stated in the article, is minimal and ever closing. The most important feature, playing online games, is as good as or better on PSN. And if you look at the bullet-point features on the side of a 360 box, MS has the gall to list XBOX LIVE as ''free''. Yes, the do-nothing Silver is free, but who cares. Another method MS uses to dupe the ignorant into thinking they are getting somrthing they are not. Just like the Arcade sku - expensive propietary hard-drive grift. And where did Squilliam vanish to? Too much red at the top I suppose.....
