Cool keyboards, but I still think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill with this keyboard and mouse argument. Especially if, like I said in my other post a few pages back, my Logitech G5 mouse cost about $45 which is $10 less than a Dualshock 3 and good for much more than games (Makes using software like Final Cut Pro on Macs so much better). Mainly, it offers more buttons and a higher quality and higher DPI laser engine or whatever it's called that can be used on any surface I've tried (though I don't play games with the mouse on my pant leg) and the laser doesn't stop after a period of inactivity like the basic mice do. Like I said before, I used to play my games with a standard mouse and did well. Heck, the Logitech G5 sucks in Half-Life 1 engine games since for some reason it has trouble moving diagonally. Also, why comment about controls having simplified layouts if you're going to post a keyboard with a dedicated area for playing games (the third link)? As for myself, I'm still sticking to my old keyboards. lol, I not only used to play FPS games with the arrow keys of a keyboard, but I was also very good at Counter-Strike on an ergonomic keyboard and it had small arrow keys in the shape of a diamond (the same thing as the image below).
As for graphics, you can go in a number of ways. If you want you can get the very best out of everything, but it'll obviously cost you. You could also just turn down graphical settings if you're computer can't handle it and have fun. I've played Battlefield 2 with a mere x300 for a while and that didn't kill the overall experience one bit. In fact, since I could only display low settings, the game ran perfectly. You could also have a good computer, but just turn down some settings that can hurt your frame rate and aren't too important. Team fortress 2 might have some jaggies and doesn't always run over 60fps, but I've put in over 200 hours playing it and it's still fun as hell. You can do whatever you want and it's not like you're tied down, unless your computer can't run ANYTHING. Lastly, I've already pointed out that the Radeon 4870 is a good card and only costs around $130-150, much less than your $500 suggestion from earlier on. Again, you don't need to spend $500 on something like a GTX 295 unless you're tower is packed with top tier hardware with a large monitor that can display your games in the highest resolution possible. --- @SSJ, because it costs too much :P I also really wanted to try it, but didn't get a chance when they had demo tents up on campus one day.... But no, I had to put my tuition to good use and go to class. |
New tech always costs a ton. Look at the PS3's launch price. Look at new GPUs when they are launched. Look at new, high-end CPUs. Look at the Wii. That Novint Falcon costs easily half the price of any new GPUs and CPUs, and twice the price of my old Razer Keyboard. Its worth it.
