Last year, LittleBigPlanet oversaw the formation of the new 'Play, Create, Share' genre, which was not only encouraged, but driven by unique, player generated content. Of course, when Media Molecule began rather injudiciously deleting and moderating the works of users', the LittleBigPlanet community was incited to protest, causing quite a backlash at the game.
United Front Games, creators of the upcoming karting title ModNation Racers, have dully noted the controversy and aim to avoid any similar fiascoes with their entry into the 'Play, Create, Share' genre. When we quizzed them on their moderation plans for ModNation Racers, they responded they would be putting the "power of moderation into the hands of the community".
"We really want to put the power of moderation into the hands of the community," ModNation Producer Dan Sochan old us in a recent interview. "A lot of time has been spent creating tools that allow the gamer to help maintain a fun and vibrant online community that’s enjoyable for everyone."
Stay tuned for the full interview, where we hit subjects such as new game modes, split screen multiplayer, making use of PS3 specific features, and leveraging the 'power of the PS3'.
