I honestly don't think a price cut would do much for the wii because I've never really seen price as an obstacle to anyone who wanted the console. At $250, it's been "cheap enough" from day one. Ps3 was the console who's price was bitched about everywhere making me think it would benefit from a price cut more than any other console.

A better bet for nintendo may be to release more of their popular franchises and new colors. Also, I think the wii sales should increase during the holidays but I won't claim to be an analyst so take my predictions with a grain of salt

that's true. However, at the same time, consumers also expect "older product" receives price drop over time and it hasn't happened to Wii in almost 3 years.

But, you are forgetting that the HD consoles have had big releases this year, Street Fighter 4 and Resident Evil 5 are a few examples of this, but the Wii has had two major releases, Wii Sports resort and Monster Hunter 3, in japan. You could count the Conduit and Tiger woods 10, But even then it still does not match the number of big games released this year for the HD consoles. In order for the Wii to pick up in sales more games need to be released. This provides value to the console.

I agree. But its hard for me to agree to an extent only because Hardware bumps due to software releases usually go hand in hand with new introductions of known Ip's through the generation.

I think a new Zelda would bump Wii hardware considerable just because it will be the first since launch. But SMG and SSBB Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit etc. already will have lured in those buyers. Perhaps it will increase slightly, but i dont think it would have a long enough effect week to week like a known IP's berth on a new generation.
