One week of  VGChartz sales has totally changed the race between the PS3 and 360. Imagine if the PS3 could average 300 to 400k consoles per week for the next 12 months- it could become reality.

I also believe the 360 may never outsell the PS3 ever again in worldwide weekly sales now that the PS3 Slim has launched with its $299 price and a long list of PS3 exclusive games are soon to be released late 2009 and early 2010.  The PS3 outsell the 360 by more  than 100k every week for the next 12 months  and beyond which would wipe out the XBox 360s sales lead over the PS3.

The PS3 could be  the new PS2. $299 price was the same price the PS1 and PS2 launched with in America. Sony has finally delivered this generation and turned things around for good. A night mare if your a 360 fan but a dream come true if your a PS3 fan.

LOL, even if this DID happen, 12 months=late 2010 almost 2011. Xbox will have won if it takes PS3 that long, the generation will almost be over.

 

In other words PS3 can never win.

 

Also 360 has a much stronger lineup in late 010: Halo Reach, probably Gears of War 3, Natal, a probably slim redesign, possible price cut, PS3 has nothing that I know of, and the Ps3's biggest franchises (Gt 5, GoW) are being expended this year.

 

Also Xbox 360 outsold PS3 in the newest NPD yet again.

 

Edit: also if you go by shipped figures which is the most accurate judge of WW sales, 360 is ahead 31.4 to 23.8..in other words by 7.6 million, not 4.8.

 

Theres just no way PS3 can win, ever. Face it,. it's over, it's been over. PS3 took years to hit 299, they will take how many more YEARS to hit 199? Meanwhile 360 hardware is profitable and MS can slash prices at will especially on the Arcade. Arcade could be 99 tomorrow if MS wants.

 

Never mind that the aging PS3 hardware is tapped out andf PS3 is having a harder and harder time keeping up with 360 ports. Look at Forza 3, better looking than GT5. PS3 games used to look better than 360 counterparts..not anymore.

 

PS3 is so doomed.

Newest NPD is August... Before slim was released. And you seem to think that lower price = higher sales. Look at Wii vs Arcade. 360 has been cheaper for a long time now, and it is still being beaten by Wii. If they were to cut the price to 99, it would do them no good. People think they get what they pay for, and a $99 current-gen gaming console looks extremely fishy. Also, your last 2 paragraphs clearly show your bias. PS3 hardware is tapped out? How exactly would you know something like that? Are you a software engineer? (I really doubt you are...) I don't know how you deduced that Forza 3 looks better than GT5. And it's the other way around, 360 games used to look better than PS3 counterparts. Now multiplat games are pretty much the same.
