@Sharky: The PS3 is definitely not doomed, in fact, it's going to dominate not only this holiday season, but for many years to come and here's why:

Much like the Wii, the PS3 appeals to casual audiences in the sense that it's a blu ray player at a very affordable price and with DVD's dying, we will see more and more people buying blu-ray players in order to keep up with technology. This will push many many units.

Also, you said that this generation will soon be over and that 2011 is way too late for the PS3...WRONG! Manufacturers will milk this generation for all it's worth and there is still a ton we haven't seen from the 360 and PS3. Natal and Eyetoy are just the beginning and I won't be surprised if this generation goes on until 2015. In fact, motion sensoring technology is like a relaunch for both consoles (or an Xbox 540/PS3.5). Sony will end this generation with a bang!
