@Fknetwork,
I really doubt the 360 will outsell the PS3 any time soon. Maybe in America by a little bit once or twice around ODST, but I just dont see it happening for Microsoft WW this holiday season.
I think Microsoft will never ever beat PS3 in hardware sales in Japan ever again this generation. I also think with FF, it will be a consistent + 15,000 at least in Japan for the PS3 in the forsee-able future.
Lets examine the probability of the PS3 catching the 360 within 12 months.
the PS3 would really have to plateau much higher than people are expecting it to for this to even be close to possible.
but if the PS3 outsells the 360 by 100,000 a week for a year, then they will close the gap by 5,200,000.
the average that the PS3 has outsold the 360 per week so far is ~388,000. This average per week will obviously lower next week but will take some time for the average to get close to 100,000 per week, as this would require the PS3 to outsell the 360 by less than 100,000 for several weeks in a row.
I think the weekly difference will settle around 80,000 before sales pick up again before the holidays at which point the average weekly difference will go back up. and imo this is all estimated as the best case world wide scenario for Microsoft.
I would say that it is not unreasonable whatsoever to believe that the average weekly difference between the PS3 and 360 could remain around 100,000 for about 6 months from now.
So the gap COULD close by about 5 million in 12 months, and will probably take 2 full years to completely close (if it ever does) because of course Microsoft isn't about to stop with their shenanigans anytime soon.
but these are just my opinions.
