Nice for Sony I guess but remember this is only a small snapshot in the grand scheme of the overall console race. The true test will be how well these sales hold up in the coming weeks. If sales drop back down to the levels (or near levels) of before the slim was released in the next couple of months while 360 and Wii still maintain their larger sales, then Sony could be in some trouble as they won't be able to rely on the price drop card again for a long time after taking a mere less than 3 years to chop 50% off their original price. This also makes the 10 year plan that Sony proudly boasts about more implausable because of the rapid devaluation of the console in such a short time.

There also hasn't been a real increase in software sales this week in comparison to the huge hardware increase which leads me to believe a decent amount were people already owning a PS3 simply rebuying the PS3 new model. Not to discredit these tremendous hardware sales for the week, just playing devil's advocate here.. Anyway it'll be interesting to see how the holiday season shapes up between PS3 slim, 360's price cut and Halo ODST, and Wii with Wii Fit plus and NSMB Wii.
