Not really.
It already happened before 80 gb model launched in Japan.
PS3 sales were dying becouse of people waiting for new model while x360 had nice series of Jrpg which gave them 7 or 8 weeks in a row. Then after release of 80gb PS3 whole 8 weeks of adventage have been negated :D
