This will be an interesting race indeed.

Dragon Quest X for Wii will do INSANE numbers. Something like 1.5 million first week and these are low expectations. Don't know the release-date, though.

I'm not positive, but I think someone from SE claimed that they wouldn't release DQ and FF in the same fiscal year.

It was said that, but apparently they don't care anymore. DQIX released in July. FFXIII releases in December in Japan. Not only the same fiscal year, but the same year in gregorian terms. DQX won't be releasing for a WHILE though.
