Funny Microsoft should mention updates.. I just updated yesterday and it nearly bricked my laptop. Seriously, these Vista updates don't work. I had to sit through startup repair then a system restore to fix it. Now I've backed up everything on my computer in fear.
This is pretty underhand and shows the way in which big corporations work behind the scenes to keep control. The thing is though, there is no real mass market alternative to Windows. Linux is not very user friendly for your average consumer, and Mac OS X is just too expensive for most to choose instead when you consider the fact that Apple make their computers insanely overpriced. If Apple built low-end and mid-end computers and laptops with prices to match maybe they'd have a chance.
So for all its flaws, I'm sticking with Windows.
