Even though 360 will likely crush it in World Wide sales for that week (no need to mention Wii, everyone knows it's king) it's nice to see Europe embrasing the PS3 as much as it is. Japan will only add another pathetic 10k-15k, and USA will add not to much more than that, looking at last weeks sales. 360 beat PS3 in USA by over 100k in last weeks chart, so it's not even nearly enough for PS3 to keep it's head above water even with the Japanese and Europe numbers. But!!!.. Is it enough to keep PS3 a success? |
The PS3 HAS been dead last for months up until the recent couple of weeks. To put it in perspective, the PS3 has just outsold the 360 by 30k in europe. It would have to keep this up untill 2009 to overtake it. Is that going to happen? Possibly, who knows but I would hardly call the current sale a turnaround or a success. The PS3 really has to destroy the 360 AND the Wii consisitently for a couple of months to stage anything like a comeback at this point.
If the PS3 doesnt hit 10 million this holiday its over, or to put it more bluntly, it has no chance of hitting 10 million & its basically over for this generation. The PS3 might start to come into its own in time for the next generation, ie around 4 or 5 years from now.
So yes Sony were right, the PS3 WILL have a shelf life of 10 years, what they failed to predict though is for the first 5 years its going to be having its mail forwarded straight to the abyss.
