I think that it is an automatic response that any politician has when they need to mention a product or company to mention one from their country. If the american president has to name a car manufacturer in a speech he would say 'Ford' or 'Chrysler' instead of 'Nissan' or 'Volkswagen'. It just looks better to mention things associated with your country, people like it.
If he said Sony or Nintendo it could have looked bad.
Then again maybe I'm reading too much into lol
