I'm not sute why people keep attacking the average weekly sales quote.
For this week, PS3 might have a 300K+ advantage on 360 and perhaps it would happen a couple more time in the next few months during holiday season. However, once January starts, it will go down to 200K, 100K or even 50K or 10K... that's why it's easier to take the average to estimate how long it would take to close the gap.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
