There is absolutely nothing wrong with preliminary data released early. Practically every film box office tracker release estimates early and then adjust when the actuals come in from more credible sources. Its common practice in the film industry and nobody ever complains because preliminary data is just a broad look at the market that people get earlier rather then later.

To think this site is less credible because it adjusts when its sales are out of line with the trackers with much larger sample sizes is just ignorant. VGChartz provides early data that shows people a broad version of whats happening in the industry and then gets increasingly accurate as time goes by.

Its not like this site says its as accurate as NPD, so I don't see the problem?

Want free numbers that are generally accurate plus a site with far more useful analytical tools then any other site has? Thats VGChartz. Theres nothing else like it.

I think the main issue is two fold. Firstly people haven't got their heads around exactly what this site is and why its useful. And secondly I think there has been a smear campaign from several sources. But thankfully the perception of the site is changing and the longer this site runs the better the perception is going to get.
