I dunno what those people's problem is. I came to this website because it is the only one that attempts to provide near realtime comprehensive worldwide gaming sales data. That is no mean feat and it is a certainty that the numbers will not be 100% accurate.

It is basically impossible for a website to do it with official numbers because, well, I can't see any of the console makers or software publishers being willing to hand over for general publication official sales data in real time. They announce sales data when they are good and ready, when it facilitates their strategic vision, or when they are legally required to. I think the degree of adjustment in HW sales numbers I've seen since I started lurking on this site tends to indicate that VGC's information sources are sufficiently reliable to give people a really good indication of relative performance of both game sales and HW sales (with a few exceptions).

Sure if you're gonna quote VGC numbers on another site suggesting they are accurate down to the last unit then you can legitimately be laughed off the forum, because VGC numbers are only indicative with a degree of uncertainty. When transporting VGC numbers toi any other forum you should always acknowledge a margin of error, like saying "According to VGC, Wii numbers last week were approximately the same as PS3 & 360 combined". Never say things like "VGC shows Wii number was 234,156; PS3 was 113,074; and 360 was 121,082".

Is there anyone suggesting that Wii doesn't have ~49% market share for this gen of consoles? Is there anyone suggesting PS3 isn't approx 8 million units, give or take a few %, behind 360 at this point? Does anyone think MGS4 has sold 10 million units? Does anyone doubt Halo 3 has cracked 10 million? Has anyone shown that Wii Fit hasn't sold >20 million?
