The only RE game that has what you describe is the N64 version of RE2, where it was an option to use or not. They called it the '3D camera' and instead of pushing upwards to move the direction your character faces you pointed the analogue stick the direction you wanted to move and the character would auto-turn and walk that direction.

Every other RE game perspective is irrelevant to character movement.

The camera angles where part of the horror style anyway, not that perspective has anything to do with control.

Wait, are you saying that despite the camera angle, the controls always stay the same?  That sounds awful.  Every 3D game I have ever played the contols were always in relation to the camera.

Loads used to have controls like that.  Tomb Raider is one of the bigger names that springs to mind.

Never played it.

sc94597, you mentioned Eternal Darkness.  It has been a few years since I played it, but as I recall the controls of that game are in relation to the camera.

Really? From what I remember the camera changed in that too. Maybe I should replay it. I've only played it once and that was early 2005.
