Madworld and HoD:OK deserved way better sales as do Cursed Mountain, Boom Blox Party and the handful of other awesome Wii flops. CoD is literally the only mature (I hate that word) game to do decently in recent memory. |
We can't be expected to buy games we don't like to support developers. I've done this a couple of times, but to be honest it's a waste of time. The enthusiasts who would do this are in such a minority that they're irrelevant any way. Though if I do like a game that is truly niche, I will buy it a second time (I've only done this once).
If this isn't what you're expecting, then you're just giving out that a large amount of people don't share your tastes. If a game satisfies it's owners beyond a small niche and has a viral effect (looks fun to an observer and/or has good local multiplayer), then it should sell regardless. Developers need to learn to make games that people want, and people should stop acting like us customers have a duty to buy things we don't want.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
