What I have learned from this thread:

None of you have ever played an old school Resident Evil game. If you had you would not be saying this game is like it.

I think most people were saying that it was slow like an old Resident Evil. Which I agree with. After that though the similarities stop. Resident Evil games are MUCH more frustrating imo. Not only do the controls suck to the point where you even hate moving around, but it is a pain to get anywhere in the games. I guess that is what makes it fun though.... I think it has more similarities with Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. The similarities with Silent Hill are pacing, and the combat is a lot like that seen in fatal frame.

Exactly. I think the RE comparison is more to illustrate to people that this is not really a straightforward action game like RE4. And frankly after just going back to Code Veronica for DC I can say that there are many similarities in pacing and "feel". I think most people on these boards have played the bulk of RE games and are drawing some fair comparisons. Of course CM is more like an updated version; brought more in line with modern control and pacing conventions. This is the kind of game RE could have been had they continued to refine the older gameplay style. Though admittedly the puzzles are quite easy but that too follows the convention of games getting dumber, shorter and easier. Perhaps KylieDog should take his own advice and play the classics again and see the similarities himself.
