Sony deserves to catch criticism for their own pimping of backwards compatibility then abandoning an entire platform. There are plenty of people who want it, though it still seems overemphasized as a feature that sony needs right now. A PS2 with HDloader (greatly reduces load times) hooked up to a large SDTV, along with your other SD systems > PS2 Upscaling on even the nicest HDTV. The only exception to this are some later PS2 games that support 16:9 and look great on the ps3.
There's a couple ps2 rhythm games (Frequency, Amplitude) that are unplayable on an HDTV due to lag and the ps3 triggers which means PS3 BC doesn't really work with two of my favorite games.
