I do not think anyone really knows the actual sales numbers of the hardware and software. All we have here are best guess sales estimates based on extrapolations using a small percentage of available retail sources. Sales trackers provide sales estimates based on the available information they have. More information the more accurate the sales numbers.
The retail sales numbers will always be lower than the shipped numbers. The big 3 companies count the shipped numbers as sold.
