| COKTOE said: I was looking at a 240hx LG model. Funny thing: I went into Future Shop looking for that exact model you referenced. Do you find 240hz to be that much of an improvment? The C-Net review i read said it wasn't that noticable. Still after all the hassle of setting this all up myself, I may return this one and get the LN52B750. Thanks for the input. |
If it's not too much trouble...return it!
All the oceans and time itself can't accurately encompass the vast improvement the LN52B750 would be to your home theater.
Sony also makes a TV that attempts to compete with the XXB750 model, with a matte finish, and succeeds for the most part....but just go with the Sammy. It's the best. It's the most popular high end model, and it's just released. You aren't gonna go wrong, and the PQ will make you shit yourself.
Anyway, 120 and 240 are visually different. 240 has never been implimented as well as it has in the 750 series and it shows. I believe you're adding 3 frames to every existing frame with the 240, compared to 1 with the 120, and C-Net says that the difference isn't very noticable, but it IS noticable, and it opens up a lot in terms of smoothness and dejudder control.
Also, screen uniformity is a big problem with LCDs, and Cnet says straight up, that the 750 is one of the most uniform LCDs they've ever encountered. Don't have to play much of the panel lottery with this purchase.
The set is pretty futureproof as well, with the firmware updates on the regular, 240hz, and image processing that is currently unmatched. Your SD will be the major upgrade, and upscaled PS3 dvds look like 1080i dish network channels, or better. BR is godlike, and with the 52, you can tell it. Get Grand Canyon Adventure on BR, do yourself a favor.
On the B750, the options all have the little "help" hints(like when you press select in FFVII) so that you actually understand what you're adjusting, and the 240 amp actually has a "demo" mode that shows half the TV with and half without, from whatever source you are currently inputing.
It even runs my 150gb external HD, every videofile you can imagine except wmv, flat off the drive, via one of the 2 usb drives. Keep in mind, it's not even formatted in FAT32. It's nfts(or wtf ever it's called), which my PS3 won't even fucking read, but the TV reads it fine.
Shit man, I'm not kidding, I know from TVs, and the LN52B750 is pretty much the one I recommend to gamers. Right down to the backlit remote, it is not to be fucked with lightly.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
