Me too, i use it because it has sort of a meaning in computer graphics (i work a lot with those), but all my life i've understood that there's no 0.5 dimension, 1 dimension is a line (not a graphical line, but a line in its definition), 2 dimensions is a surface and 3 dimensions are the objects, otherwise known as the space, according to general relativity the 4th dimension is time, and if we follow the string theory (or M-theory or LQG) we are talking about even more dimensions, but i've never heard about a 0.5 dimension in physics...
