Wow. I had no idea my statements about Korean women trying to look white would cause such a harumphing. I realize I didn't exactly take the time to explain subtle nuances, but I think most people that come here agree there is a strong tendency among Korean women to pursue the traits and qualities of white women.
Oh sure, it could just be that the use of so many scary looking whitening products is related to the old tradition of fair skin meaning being apart from labourers and farm workers, but it's not just skin colour anymore. Women in Korea regularily (as young as mid teens) get their eyelids cut to have large eyes, have their noses "romanized" and shave down cheek bones to have smaller faces. There's a hillarious add for a plastic surgery clinic on a subway station near me that advertises "Small face, lovely breast" Or there's this ad

One can also often find makeup adds that show you just what a Korean girl might look like if she uses their products. For instance, you could end up looking like this!

Yeah, it's a white girl. This is pretty common to see. Also, only white girls are ever used in Lingerie ads. Not Korean, Japanese, Black or South American girls. Only white girls, who are also found in plenty of other ads for glasses, clothes and all kinds of stuff.
So I don't think it's unfair to state that it definitely seems like Korean girls are attempting to emulate the traits of caucasians, when they regularily emulate the skin with makeup, the facial features with plastic surgery and are often surrounded with images of gussied up well airbrushed and lingerie touting whities.
If anyone is interested in the subject, I've found quite the informative and introspective outlook at the Grand Narrative.

Although I must admit it's not really one for the VG crowd. It's mostly thoughtful and friendly, as opposed to the discussions here which tend to turn dismissive and combative.
