I think the mistake a lot of people make is that the general public cares as much about specs and things like wi-fi as people like us on gaming forums do. Sure, a LOT of people care which is why the pro and elites were half of the 360s that sold, but I think a far greater number of peopel just buy what their friends have and what's popular. The PS2 was not the best technical system and lacked the standard HD that the Xbox had but that didn't matter at all, it was the hot item and that what people bought. Just like the Wii was the hot item this generation, and it's why it's still been outselling the cheaper Xbox 360.
