wow lots of bullshit coming from someone who seems like they reserached this in 2 minutes
so... asian women tend to have: smaller eyes, darker skin, flat noses, short stature
lol, just out of curiosity, what part of "china" did you go to? be careful now, dont pick something that contradicts what youve said. youll look like a total dumbass
and there is no such thing as the average chinese since there are so many different sects. and. like i said, whitening cream is just as easily found in the states. the most common eyelid surgery is "double eyelid" surgery which is not a quality of whites. living in china (which i doubt you have anyway, seeing how you cant even remember any names of hot asian stars in five years' time) doesnt give you jack shit in credibility , and its also highly unlikely that you just HAPPENED to ask them of what they felt was beautiful. and again, like i said, large eyes and white skin are NOT more commonly found qualities in the general white race just as much as the general "asian" race isnt smalleyed dark skinned, flatnosed, and short. i suppose all chinese women aspire to be fat too, seeing as the average woman in the united states is slightly overweight (65% of US women are either overweight or obese according to http://win.niddk.nih.gov/statistics/). and i do want names. for every "can hardly tell shes asian" star you name, ill put down 5 who dont, kay?

9Chiba. You seem angry dude, and i'm really not sure what about. I don't know if someone said something in this thread that offended you. If i did it wasn't my intention.
The point that Stof made, which incidentally was anecdotal, is that there are people in Korea that seem to want to look more like white people. I said that my experience in China was similar. Neither of us claimed to have studies to back us up or that we were representing the majority of people in either country, rather it was just something we observed. This is the crux of my point.
I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what your point is here other than just disagreeing with me for the sake of it. You are of course entitled to do so but i will stand by my claim that there are people in China that seem to want to look more like white people and this comes from five years of teaching, working and talking with mostly females colleagues and students in central China. And of course we talked about looks, it's something that people are interested in talking about and is something that varies with culture.
Now we can argue ad nauseum about what features are or are not typically associated with certain races or cultures but pedantry aside my point would still be basically the same. Many Chinese girls aspire to attain features that are not common in people within their own country. And what do you know, that's not that different from attitudes in the west with people aspiring to unrealistic body image standards that are promoted or fostered by the media.
In the end i was presenting nothing other than my impression based on my own experiences and for that i need no research. You call me out on my 'bullshit' yet your post is full of assumptions and speculation and a google search for "obesity in America", does not count as research. You talk about sects in a country with no official religion, you assume i didn't live in China because i can't remember stars names and your idea of a retort is, you're wrong because i say so.
So to answer your question, "Who says they want to look like white people?", i do (with qualifications) and if you don't like my answer then sorry.

i really dont care if i insulted you or not. china IS divided into regions of physically different people (sects does not necessarily mean religious sects). ASIA is divided into groups of peoples so many that if you generalized them, youd be ignorant. that is a fact. america is 66% obese or overweight. that is also a fact. now for the SUPER CRAZY SPECULATION that you accuse me of having. asian girls are NOT trying to look like white girls. they are trying to look like celebrities. asian celebrities. where do asian celebrities get these looks? they were born with them. just like all white girls want to be jessica alba or britney spears (haha) or kate moss, asian girls want to be like hyori lee or hebe. as for the google search comment, would you like a medline plus link? maybe mayo clinic? or should i just give you a paper i wrote on the subject? i thought .gov was enough, but apparently, thats not valid to a guy who cites life experience (or what he could have easily made up) as valid evidence.
you dont have qualifications. just experience that you claim over the internet. that isnt valid. if you dont like that, then sorry.

I have in every post related my experience only to China and have not broadened my statements to Asia as you imply. You seem to want me to be generalising but i'm just not. I have based my statements on personal experience and have not attempted to apply my 'findings' to the Chinese populous at large and have tried to qualify what statements i have made. You have attempted to misrepresent what i said and chosen to ignore any caveats i have made and in the end for all your talk of evidence you simply have a difference of opinion with me and not much else. I get that you disagree with me generally, i really do, and if that is your point, then consider it made.
I am perfectly happy to accept that the vast majority of girls in China have no interest in looking white, but my experience tells me that there are some girls, at least where i lived, that SEEMED to. The unlikely Medline citation that covers the issue at hand has no more chance of changing my personal experience and this opinion than a Metacritic score has of determining my favourite game.
I really hope that you get the point of this post, and that you might actually realise that somewhere you may have misconstrued some of what i said (e.g. use of the word qualifications), or i perhaps i failed to adequately explain some of my points. But if you want to have another shot at telling me my opinions on this topic, formed through nearly 5 years of living in China are wrong, knock yourself out.
