That's basically what I think is happening. To sum up: he's a lapsed (casual) gamer talking about current games, which doesn't happen on the internet often. Most video game discussions/articles are by continuing (hardcore) gamers.
It stands to reason that Continuing Gamers wouldn't agree with Lapsed Gamers about the same games.
