Out of curiosity, what PS3 game out today makes people want to spend 300 bucks on its system?

You could make the PS3 the same price as the 360 Arcade, but seriously there is absolutely no software support for the unit in America. I know you all want to throw Infamous,MGS4,Killzone 2 in my face but that is not nearly enough to retake the crown in America. Even FF13 is getting a 360 port. Hardcore Sony fans want to throw Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, GoW 3, and several others in my face like they all are going to have the same mass appeal as the 360's crown jewel Halo, but sadly that is not the case.

And no, I am not a Microsoft fanboy, but the company does one thing extremely well, and that's advertise. Starting September 1st I am sure that you will see a Halo commercial for ODST that has some obscure indie song and awesome cutscenes that will skyrocket that game in sales. Where's the counterpart?

"Absolutely no software support for America" come on that's a major overstatement. PS2 didn't have Halo 1 or 2 either but it seemed to sell pretty well. If you have a suite of 8 games that cover a lot of gamer demographics then that can easily make up for a single franchise. If 50,000 people buy a PS3 because they want Uncharted 2, and another 50,000 buy one because they want R&C:aCiT, and another 50,000 buy one because they want GOW III, and another 50,000 for GT5, and 10,000 each for inFamous, KZ2, MGS4 (because they've all be out for a while already), that'll well and truly take care of ODST's system pushing potential. You don't need one magic bullet when you've got several high powered bullets that will collectively get the job done.

You're right that ODST will skyrocket in sales, the big question is whether it can skyrocket the hardware. I have my doubts about that. Since when does an expansion pack push a lot of hardware. Since when does an expansion pack push any hardware? I'm thinking the normal course is that expajnsioon packs push exactly zero hardware in most cases. I think because it's Halo it might push more than one would expect (i.e. more than zero), but it still won't push a lot.
