SONY FINANCIAL DATA - Oct 25

** Sony from LTD has shipped 5.59 million PS3s
** Sony posted a $787 million income as a company
** The Games division (PS2, PS3, PSP) posted a $841 million loss

Fun facts:

  • Hardware sales increased YOY but software sales decreased YOY
  • Sony shipped 1.31 million PS3 consoles in the quarter and posted an $841 million loss - averages out to losing $641.98 for every PS3 sold
  • PS2 sold 38 million software units worldwide compared to 47.2 million last year. That's a notable decrease -- PS2 users are likely beginning to migrate to either Wii, PS3, or 360, but decrease in major software titles released for the platform is also certainly a factor
  • They did not specify any individual game sales
  • Their PS3 hardware estimations until the end of the fiscal year are unchanged from their May and July forecasts -- 11 million units for the fiscal year
  • PS2 beat their hardware forecasts and sold 3.28 million units. In response, Sony has changed their PS2 hardware estimations for the fiscal year from 10 million to 12 million.
  • Sony's best selling product? The Cybershot digital camera.



NINTENDO FINANCIAL DATA - Oct 25

** Nintendo from LTD has shipped 13.17 million Wiis, 53.64 million DSs
** Nintendo posted a $1.15 billion income

  • Wii has already surpassed over 50% of the Gamecube's lifetime sales and it hasn\'t even been out a year yet.
  • Nintendo expects to ship 10.1 million Wiis between October and March
  • Mario Party 8 sold/shipped 2.89 million units
  • Nintendo's Japan sales totalled 635 billion yen. Their US sales were 268 million yen.
  • Market value more than doubled for the company YOY



MICROSOFT FINANCIAL DATA - Oct 25
