Nobody else is really given much leeway to stop situtions... except Gohan... like once.
Even a large portion of the "Goons" are too tough for the average DBZ character.
So it's just Goku and his 5 or so moves respammed in every fight... and it's not worth watching the supporting characters fight because you just know they're going to get their asses kicked to build up the guy for his fight vs goku.
IMO anime is better when the main character is only marginally stronger then his compatriots.
In DBZ 1,000 Krillins couldn't touch Goku.

Vegeta was cool... but in the end he was just another worthless character in a fight.

I always laughed when it took Goku like 5 seconds to master something that Vegeta or someone else had been training for like months to do.
