My theory on why COD 3 sold so poorly on the PS3 is because there is a large overlap in PS3/360 owners. So a delayed release on one of the platforms really hurts the sales on that platform. For example look how poorly Bioshock sold on the PS3 after it had already been released on the 360 for awhile. So with the simultaneous releases of the Call of Duty franchise after COD 3, the PS3 versions have been doing much better than they were. I know a lot of people disagree with that, because they don't think there is a reason to own both a PS3 and 360 since they share many of the same games.
