I've been around since 2007 and I still don't get the joke.

Each time someone uses Amazon sales rankings as an indicator of sales, someone clubs a baby seal. Think of the baby seals.

 

I know that Amazon is one of the worst indicator of sales and everyone despises those who use it, but when did that joke occur?
