Err no, you don't need to upgrade PCs... of all the game environments, PC is the most backwards compatible hardware wise. The perfect example are the best games, Blizzard's, they run on shitty rigs just fine.
I have no problem playing on my €500 PC bought in 2003, sure it's not all at full settings, but I can play pretty much anything that came out in the past 2 years. The only reason I don't is because I have a new laptop (yeah that's more expensive) that can run everything in high settings...
You WERE right about fifa controls and similar games.... it used to be hard to find a decent gamepad, but nowadays, with MS pushing their X360 gamepad on PC and developpers going for it, controls are just as easy on a PC than on any console for these games.... you can even have wireless controlers too, so nothing is exclusive to consoles.
For FPS PC haters, one question: Have you tryed adjusting the sensitivity of the mouse when you played? (always an option in game for that... and it does a hell of a difference for an M&K beginner)
