It's the same thing as stated in the first quote, just worded differently:

"I anticipate around 10 million sales per year on average, until the release of a "PSThree", then I expect the PS3 to sell around 15 million on average"

Around 30 million at the end of fiscal year 2009, ~15 million a year makes roughly ~75-80 million at the end of fiscal year 2012. And of course Sony's 10 year plan for the PS3 was never a secret to begin with.

15 million per year at 299 aren't happening. Even Sony is expecting to ship 13 million by the end of March and their expectations are always  optimistic.

They were rather spot on for last fiscal year. 13 million probably isn't too far off neither for this fiscal year. Also remember the slimline PS3 will not have been available for this whole fiscal year once it launches and there are signs Sony has plenty of aces stuck in their sleeves unfolding the years ahead.

It's just a prediction, it may be a little optimistic or it may be a little under-optimistic. Too many different factors involved to make an absolute statement (unlike for example being able to state with 99.9% certainty Blu-Ray would win the format war).

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
