Yes and no. Of course there are still arguements to be had over line-ups and it does come down to personal preference, though I agree what it says about those line-ups
As for price, I think the average consumer doesn't really think about needing to get gold, because M$s LBP song stealing Live adverts talk about all the features, and then say you can sign up for free...
I think the PS brand is still a big factor. If you don't know much about the various strengths, you think shall I get a PS3, or shall I get an Xbox, for the same price, you would probably go for the PS3
