At this point I'm glad to see that :

X360 - 31.410.000
PS3 - 23.240.000
PSP - 50.900.000

TOTAL - 105.550.000

Wii - 52.510.000
DS - 108.730.000
TOTAL - 161.240.000

Considering that the audience for 360, PS3 and PSP are pretty much the same, I'm glad that Nintendo is easily beating the competition. :P

if you gonna count the systems released before PS360 and wii, why dont you include the PS2?

Because those are the main seventh generation systems-both console and portable.

so DS and PSP are next gen? they were launched in 2004, lol

No, not "next gen", they're current generation handhelds-meaning they're 7th generation handhelds. 360, PS3 and Wii are 7th generation home consoles.

@ Carl, yes, it does, and that says everything about how successful the PS2 has been. And the systems it usually outships or outsells are PS3 and 360-the HD platforms. I think the argument in the beginning of this thread was HD sales > non-HD sales. If that's the case, current PS2 sales (sales during this console generation) would be included in non-HD sales. Or is that the point you were making? I think the point of this thread has gotten a little lost.

Although PS2 sales only rise above PS3/360 sales in Japan, really. And even then it's usually only above 360, which is essentially a non-competitor in the Japanese market. Although in 2006/2007, PS2 did sometimes outsell PS3 or 360 in the US, according to NPD, didn't it?
