I ain't saying FFXIII will sell more units of software than NSMB but it for sure will move more hardware....

Most people who bought a PS3 probably bought it early for FF13. Most "hardcore" gamers do this for all systems. I even bought a Wii becuase Brawl was going to be on it.

The fact that the FFXIII demo last April managed to sell 60k or so PS3 tends to invalidate this..

I believe there is still a decent number of FFXIII fans that haven't purchased a PS3...

Oh my, then I must be wrong.

Really, it's good for a demo to move that much, but we must consider how this will translate into hardware sold for the final release. These 60k bought it then, so those wont be clumped later. Then, we must wonder who will buy the game. How well will it sell?

Looking at the trend, not as much as some hoped. FF7 is the best selling followed by 8 then 10. 12 sold under 3 million. This is also on the large user base of the PS2. The PS3 has a much smaller fan base and trends are showing that people are moving away from Final Fantasy. My expectation is that it will sell really well week 1. It will push hardware slighty. Everyone will claim this as a second coming. The next week will be a sharp decline and the thrid week will be the same as before the game's release. NSMB Wii has a change to move units in the long term. FF13 will only make a short lived movement. Expect everything to go downhill from there.
