They would want a wii because it would be cheap, and they could game on it till the others dropped in price, there are actually allot of people I know who have done this, of course there will always those whom already own a wii and simply want to upgrade to a HD console but the price was holdig them back, at least now some can make the jump and go beyond just owning the one console.
