still don't know if it's blu-ray or HD-DVD.

part of chinese translation:

"2 mln blue light HD-DVD, $300 mln contract"

whatever "blue light" is.

"philips has it for sale at $599, Sony and Toshiba sells them at $499, we'll sell them at $299".

i have no idea why 300mln/2mln is $299, must be the retail price. i do know that sony makes blu-ray, toshiba makes HD-DVD... so it's kind of conflicting that statement.

"[this guy] emphasizes that blue light HD-DVD is highly compatible with the DVD's currently on the market"

the article is just highly confusing. but i don't think they would say "blu light" if it's not blu-ray.

however:

"substantially lowers the transition costs from DVD to HD-DVD for manufactures"

well, that isn't blu-ray.  HD-DVD does use blue laser diode, maybe that's what they mean.

i don't follow this kind of news in chinese so i don't know the common chinese nonmenclature.

the Wii is an epidemic.
