It doesn't matter because it just ranks popularity in the last 24 hours / couple of days.
In other words, pretty much every single game ever created that's somewhat good will hold the number 1 spot on amazon for a day or two, people say "OH WOW number1 on amazon, this game is selling great!" And it never makes the NPD top 20 for the month.
I'm not sure whre you pulled gamestop from.
If PS3 slim wasn't #1, Sony would better be worried, because even with a remodel release they couldn't outsell the 360 or Wii.
