I don't understand why people keep saying FFXIII is not possible on the Wii. What in the game, that hasn't even been made yet, would make it in capable of working on Wii's hardware? This just doesn't make sense to me. It is just an RPG.

Any who, I am really intrigued at what could be on the horizon.

Have you seen the screenshots or videos? Those graphics are not possible on the Wii.

So, that's it, only graphics. That's bs. Those graphics were not gameplay but pre-rendered that could easily be small videos on Wii. The only problem I would foresee is actual gameplay. That is what is pushing hardware, not videos. What about the gameplay is completely out for Wii.

I will have to search the video on FFIII to see if there are any gameplay shots I don't remember, however, I think it is entirely possible. Sure, not as pretty as PS3, but possible. Of course this is entirely up to the contract between Sony and SquareEnix.

EDIT: Ok, I saw some of what I think gameplay videos/pics are, yes Wii couldn't do that. So fine, unless SquareEnix completely downgrades the graphics, the main game could not be on Wii.

Thank you for looking.

@albionus: There is no evidence what-so-ever that any FF game will sell poorly, no matter what console it is released on. You greatly underestimate it's power to sell consoles...everywhere, but especially in Japan. It's just not going to sell poorly. If there was one game announced that I knew would sell specifically PS3 consoles, it would be FF13. I'm sure a large majority of current owners will own it, too.

I think you grossly overestimate the ability of any one game (even FF) to move a $600 console. Shelling out $250 for FF is one thing, $700 something entirely different. Note I didn't say it will sell poorly, I said it would be the worst selling FF game since FFVII or so which would still make a good selling game overall. Square expects (or should expect) more from it's FF series than merely selling great on a system that sells poorly. I understand it may be too late to transfer over to the Wii but I would still expect Square to compensate in one way or another. We'll see what Square is up to in May.

I'm not sure what you mean because FF7 was the best selling FF game ever. By saying FF13 will be the worst selling since FF7 you are implying that FF7 will have sold worse than FF13. It is not just one game, but it is THE game. There will be plenty of other games that appeal to Japanese gamers by the time FF13 comes out. Also, the PS3 is not $600 in Japan. The last I heard the 20gb version (still produced in Japan) was $430. Most likely there will be a price cut before FF13 anyway. But whatever, you think I overestimate, I think you underestimate.

stewacide: good grief, you don't think there is any reason until the end of the year that may cause the PS3 to pick up sales? I think that's absurd, but ok, I'll let you have that theory.

However, saying the PS3 will be Xbox irrelevant in Japan is pretty funny considering the PS3 has already sold more than both the xbox and 360 combined ever did. Add to that the fact that the PS3 already has a game (Gundam Musou) that has sold more than any Xbox or 360 game ever has in Japan, and I think you'll see that your statement is a bit exagerated at best. But hey, keep dreaming of FF13 on the Wii.
