It's called being competitive. Everyone does it, not just Microsoft. What's so unoriginal about being competitive?

that's like saying "i trust you, but i wont let you my car".

that means they dont trust  you, same for the price cut, if they were confident of their 200-400$ they wouldn't lower the price.
