As part of the deal, Philips was given character and licensing rights to the Zelda series as a form of payment. I think the game results speak for why Nintendo never let them make the CD drive for them either.
Nintendo's relationship with 3rd parties as of right now is actually pretty damn good. It's say it hasn't been this strong since the SNES days. |
Those games were terrible. I didn't know that deal was the reason they were allowed to be made.
